UC Verde Buffalo Grass Plugs
UC Verde Buffalo Grass Plugs The University of California released this remarkable grass in 2003. UC Verde produces a dense turf of soft, bright-green, very fine leaf blades. Due to its inability to handle humidity, it is an excellent choice for the dry hot conditions found in the lower valley of the desert southwest and California. UC Verde will grow to a maximum height of 4 to 8 inches in most locations. UC Verde is available only as accelerated growth plugs. Buffalograss varieties give up to a 75% reduction in water consumption, therefore saving you money. These varieties thrive on a fraction of the amount of water needed for most turf grasses. With a root system extending several feet into the ground, watering is not needed in most parts of the country. The rest of the country will see a substantial reduction in water usage. In gallons this means about one million gallons of water per acre can be saved by using Legacy, Prestige or UC Verde. This allows water to be used for other necessities, like drinking. How Many Buffalograss Plug Trays Should I Order? UC Verde Buffalograss Plugs are all sold by the tray. There are 95 plugs in each tray.

It would make a great addition to your lawn. Imagine a deep, blue-green carpet of grass surrounding your home. It’s lush and soft while at the same time durable and hardy. Legacy Buffalo Grass was developed to have the look of bluegrass with the hardiness of Buffalo grass, and it certainly achieved that aim. It will flourish in high sun but also tolerate the shady spots in your yard. Its deep roots mean that it requires 75% less water than other turfgrasses. If the conditions get harsh, such as in times of excessive heat or drought, Legacy Buffalo Grass will simply go dormant until more favorable conditions return. Your grass will quickly spread and grow so dense that it will even choke out many weeds. It will thrive in both sandy and clay soils. Plant this grass in full sun for best results as it does not do well in the shade. Use this grass in areas of high foot traffic and in areas such as highway medians. It will also do well as an accent plant in arid gardens. ‘Hachita’ grass natural height is 4 to 12 inches (with seed heads) and in very good conditions it may grow taller. It is a pretty grass with slender blades and is greenish-gray color. Blue Grama will go dormant quickly in very dry conditions but it will green up quickly after receiving moisture. It can stand, heat, drought, cold and mowing. This plant can be used for dry flower arrangements and in rock gardens. | Zoysia Grass Plugs - Sale Price: $49.95 Zoysia grass provides the benefits of using less water than bluegrass or fescue and in general requires less maintenance. Nature Hills Nursery offers plugs of Zenith zoysia. We suggest using plugs because the seed is very slow to germinate, making it difficult to establish a lawn in one season. Zenith zoysia is also an improved variety with excellent color and exhibits good cold tolerance. Our trays have 70 plugs and will cover 70 sq. ft. if placed on 12 inch centers or 18 sq. ft. if placed on 6 inch centers. Zoysia spreads very slowly compared to our turf-type buffalograss so the closer the spacing the better. Our plugs are a healthy 1 ½ inches square X 2 ¼ inches deep. How Many Zoysia Plug Trays Should I Order? Zenith® Zoysia Grass is sold by the tray. There are 70 plugs in each tray. Recommended spacing is 6 to 12 inches. Once you have figured your square footage and the desired spacing, multiply your square footage by the appropriate number from the table below to find the number of plugs needed. |
