Cotoneaster - Northern Bordersâ„¢ - Sale Price: $49.95 The Cotoneaster 'Northern Borders', Cotoneaster horizontalis 'Variegatus', is a slow growing, semi-evergreen groundcover with green leaves edged in white. It provides four seasons of interest: in spring this cotoneaster has rosy buds that open to tiny white flowers along the cinnamon-colored twigs. Later, the plant is laden with shiny scarlet fruit (¼ inch) liberally sprinkled throughout. These berries add color throughout winter, and provide food for songbirds and wildlife. The color of the foliage is consistent through the winter. The nice green color has just a hint of blue to it. This juniper makes an excellent ground cover and withstands heat and salt.
