Clematis - Kilian Donahue
Clematis - Kilian Donahue Clematis Kilian Donahue, Clematis 'Kilian Donahue', is a wonderful new cultivar with a multicolor look! This early bloomer opens with ruby red centers that fade out to brilliant fuchsia bars, with orchid colored petal edges. As the 5 flowers age, they fade to lavender with pink bars. An excellent repeat bloomer throughout the summer months, this clematis has flowers that mature through a series of rich bicolor combinations ending with lavender and rich pink. It almost appears as two clematis planted together, since the new and older flowers bloom together at the same time! Clematis 'Kilian Donahue' needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs, over walls, cover stumps, and make perfect cover ups for unsightly service areas. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Groom this plant after first flowering by cutting back the top one-third to one-half of some stems. Clematis 'Kilian Donahue' is a very reliable performer once established; it takes a season or two to get going! You will enjoy this excellent repeat bloomer throughout the summer months! * Reliable * Multicolor flowers * Early bloomer
